Lithuania's Foreign Vice-Minister Andrius Krivas expressed the concern at a meeting with Russia's outgoing Ambassador Vladimir Chkhikvadze in Vilnius on Monday, the Foreign Ministry said.
"The vice-minister called for Russian explanations," reads the press release.
According to the communiqué, Lithuania-registered cars headed in both directions via the Lithuanian-Kaliningrad border are subjected to thorough examination since last Friday.
"The border procedures have caused the time needed to cross the border to extend considerably, thus the capacity of the border checkpoints for the Lithuania-registered cars has decreased tenfold," said the ministry.
