“As far as cars are concerned, the situation at the checkpoint of Kybartai has not actually changed. Cars are still being checked more thoroughly,” Gintarė Satkauskienė, spokeswoman for the department, told BNS.
She noted that thorough checks did not result in queues.
“The head of the checkpoint of Kybartai reported that, for example, it took one hour for one of the drivers to enter the territory of Kaliningrad and another hour to get back. However, there are no queues since the number of cars has decreased,” Satkauskienė said.
She added that Kaliningrad officials had replied officially that the checks were carried out without breaching the procedures.
Truckers said on Tuesday that Russia had stopped tightened checks on trucks from Lithuania, which were launched more than three weeks ago.
