The Lithuanian feature, The Gambler, directed by Ignas Jonynas is in the section of New Directors along with 15 films from the United States, Israel, France, Turkey, Costa Rica, Greece, Mexico, China, Iceland, Romania, Ukraine, the Netherlands, and Belgium.
The Gambler will be shown on September 25. The world premiere will be attended by the director and main cast, Vytautas Kaniušonis and Oona Mekas, Los Angeles-based daughter of Lithuanian artist Jonas Mekas, scriptwriter Kristupas Sabolius, cameraman Janis Eglitis and producer Uljana Kim, spokeswoman Jurga Vilpišauskaitė told BNS.
The film tells a story about paramedic Vincentas who is a passionate gambler and is forced to make radical decisions to repay his debts.
