"Moldova is getting fast closer to goals it wants to reach at the upcoming Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius. The reform momentum should be preserved, and Lithuania strongly supports Moldova," Linkevičius was quoted as saying in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It was Leanca's first visit to Brussels after assuming his new office. Linkevičius congratulated the Moldovan prime minister on having successfully resolved the political crisis in the country and having formed a new government, and underlined that continuing reforms would help prevent the repetition of such crises in the future.

The Lithuanian foreign minister also discussed preparations for the forthcoming Vilnius summit with European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy, Stefan Fule.
