"There is nothing much to evaluate. Nothing, so to say, new happened in Belarus," he told journalists on Monday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BNS it shares the view expressed by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights that citizens' rights to association, freedom of expression, and the right to stand for election were not ensured during these elections.
"(Belarus demonstrated) a selective attitude to election observers, incompatible with democratic elections. Several observers, including Lithuanian MP Emanuelis Zingeris, were not allowed into the country," the ministry said.
Some Belarusian opposition parties had boycotted the Sunday elections in which followers of authoritarian President Alexander Lukashenko most probably won all seats in the 110-seat parliament.
The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe led an international observer mission, concluding on Monday that the vote in Belarus was not free and fair.
