Meanwhile Gunta Rone, chairwoman of the Society of Vilnius Latvians, and Roman Voinicki, chairman of the Association of Public Organization of Lithuanian Belarusians, were elected deputy chairmen.
Attending the meeting, Minister of Culture Šarūnas Birutis highlighted the importance of the Council of National Communities in ensuring cultural diversity and proper representation in our state. Lithuania has always been tolerant towards representatives of various national communities, and the Ministry of Culture will be always open to dialogue in solving problems of national minorities, the ministry said.
