Pro-rector for research appointed as interim head of Vilnius University

Senate of Vilnius University decided on Tuesday to appoint pro-rector for research Juras Banys as interim head of the school, senate chairman Domas Kaunas confirmed to BNS.

Report mistake

The tenure of the current rector Benediktas Juodka is expiring on 11 October. Furthermore, Juodka is running for parliament this weekend with the Social Democratic Party.

VU Council Chairman Kazimieras Motieka has said the public competition for the rector's post would be announced after the parliament approves a new statute for the university and a new council is elected.
