Achemos Grupė's spokeswoman confirmed that the group participated in the share capital increase, but did not elaborate.

Tadas Povilauskas, a Finasta analyst, said, "It is obvious that Achema participated in the capital increase in order to maintain its 10 percent stake, which enables it to take an active part in the management of the company. It is likely that Achema used the dividends it received from Klaipėdos Nafta to pay for the shares."

The analyst estimates that as a result of the capital increase, the state's shareholding in Klaipėdos Nafta increased to 72.3 percent, from 70.6 percent, and Achema's stake rose to 10.2 percent, from 10 percent.

Since small shareholders took no interest in the share issue, their combined stake in the company dropped to 17.4 percent, from 19.4 percent, he said.
