The Baltic investment banking company Porta Finance has signed an agreement to represent Rothschild, one of the world's five largest investment banks, in Riga last week, the business daily Verslo Žinios reports.

John Brimacombe, Rothschild's director in charge of Central and Eastern European operations, said that Rothschild and Porta Finance will work together with companies and investors in the Baltic countries.

"If we speak about merger deals involving two Lithuanian companies, it wouldn't be useful for us to participate, but overall, we'll work together on many projects," he said.

Rothschild has had one merger deal in the Baltics this year so far, and Porta Finance has handled three deals.  Porta Finance is owned by former top executives of Evli Securities.
