CEO of Lithuania’s Skubios Siuntos wins Business for Peace Award

Vladas Lašas, CEO of Lithuania’s express delivery company Skubios Siuntos, has won the 2012 Business for Peace award, the Lietuvos Rytas daily reports on Wednesday.

His initiatives include the “set-the-salary-yourself” system and a possibility for people to decide how much taxes they should pay.

For the 2012 award, which is bestowed by the Business for Peace Foundation and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), there were 90 nominees from 60 nations. Seven honourees selected this year will receive their awards during a special ceremony in Oslo on 7 May.

“After learning about the award I felt like a sportsman winning a gold medal. At least I guess that the feeling should be similar. This award is the highest form of recognition that can be bestowed upon a person in business, in particular as the recipients are selected by the Nobel Prize winners,” Lašas told the daily.
