Court puts Lithuania's LNG terminal link tender on hold

A court has temporarily suspended a bidding process launched by Klaipėdos Nafta (Klaipėda Oil) to select a contractor to build a gas pipeline linking Lithuania's planned liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal to the country's grid.

Tomas Puksmys of Klaipėda Regional Court confirmed this to BNS.

The court imposed interim measures at the request of Kauno Dujotiekio Statyba (Kaunas Pipeline Construction), which, according to sources, lost the bidding and filed a lawsuit this week.

Unofficial sources have told BNS that the Kaunas-based company placed a higher price offer in the reopened bidding for the contract, worth more than a  hundred million litas (EUR 30m), than the other bidder, Germany's PPS Pipeline Systems. Both bidders placed much lower offers than previously.
