E-shops hold 1.5 percent share of Lithuanian retail market

An increasing number of Internet shops in Lithuania are posting growth in profits and are speaking, albeit cautiously, about expansion into other countries, Lrytas.lt reports.

However, based on preliminary data, online shops last year held just 1.5 percent of the country's retail trade market, the online news portal said.

Internet retailers cite the still low confidence in online shopping as a key business obstacle. Another problem is that Lithuanian online shops offer a limited choice of goods.

According to data from Statistics Lithuania, 315 Internet shops operated in the country in early 2012.
