One person this year spent an average of 442 litas per shopping visit. The total amount of money spent jumped from 32.6 million to 49 million litas monthly and around 1.5 million litas daily, the Lithuanian Trade Companies' Association says, citing results of a representative survey conducted by RAIT in April.
Among those more willing to go to Poland for shopping this year are people living in the counties of Kaunas, Klaipėda, Marijampolė and Tauragė, as well as people aged between 35 and 44 years. The vast majority of shoppers go to the neighboring country because of lower prices for food products.
