Kauno Dujotiekio Statyba CEO Henrikas Bartusevicius confirmed this to BNS.

"We are bidding in consortium with Šiaulių Dujotiekių Statyba (Šiauliai Pipeline Construction). We are the leading partner. PPS Pipeline Systems is also taking part in the bidding process," he said.

Bartusevičius did not disclose the financial details of Kauno Dujotiekio Statybos' bid, but said that the value of the contract could be around 150 million litas (EUR 43.5m).

The CEO said that Klaipėdos Nafta (Klaipėda Oil), the developer of the LNG terminal project, might sign a contact with the winning bidder in January or February.

He said that building 3 kilometers of the gas pipeline along the bottom of the Curonian Lagoon would be the most difficult part of the project.

Klaipėdos Nafta on Thursday officially confirmed having received two final offers, but did not disclose the names of the bidders.

The winning bidder will have 27 months to design and build a pipeline of about 17 kilometers in length from the LNG terminal's quay to Lietuvos Dujos' (Lithuanian Gas) distribution station. It will also have to install gas equipment, a gas metering station, telecommunications and other systems on the quay.

The interconnecting pipeline is a key part of the LNG project's infrastructure.
