Japan’s Hitachi waiting for outcome of Lithuania’s energy strategy debate

Japanese corporation Hitachi, which has been chosen by the previous government as a strategic partner for the project on the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Visaginas, is following closely the debate on energy strategy in Lithuania and is waiting for its outcome.

“Hitachi is observing the on-going debates regarding the energy strategy in Lithuania and waiting for the outcome of these debates. We are always ready to contribute positively to the discussions how to ensure energy security in the Baltic region,” Hitachi said in a statement about the project of Visaginas nuclear facility sent to BNS.

Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius said on Wednesday that parliament might decide on the outlook for Visaginas NPP within a couple of weeks.
