A total of 21 air carriers operated in Lithuania during the summer flight season this year, up from 18 in the same period last year. The number of destinations increased to 61, from 54, data from the Civil Aviation Administration (CAA) has shown.

“The total number of regular flights completed from Lithuania’s airports during the summer season of 2012 increased by 6.2 percent from 2011, to 10,355,” the regulator said in a review.

Five new air carriers, including EuroLOT, Transaero Airlines, IrAero, Aeroflot, and AK Bars Aero, entered Lithuania’s flight market in 2012.

However, the summer season’s schedule did not include Skyways, which went bankrupt in spring, as well as Sweden Airways.
