"The talks (with Hitachi) have reached final stage," he told the Japanese public broadcaster NHK.
In the interview, Kubilius said that an agreement with the Japanese corporation would have to be approved by the Seimas (Lithuania's parliament).
Speaking about the accident at Tokyo Electric Power Co's Fukushima nuclear power plant almost a year ago, he said that he "is certain that lessons will be learnt" from this disaster.
LAst week, Kubilius assured that Lithuania was moving closer to reaching key agreements with Hitachi.
This Tuesday, the Prime Minister also met with representatives of Japanese business and academia to discuss energy challenges and world's economic and financial situation, the government's press office said.
He also presented investment opportunities in Lithuania and the Northern Baltic region and Lithuania's economic and energy strategy to Japanese business people.
Kubilius is paying a working visit to Japan on 18 to 23 February.
