Belorussian company Triple maintains close ties with Lithuania but has been blacklisted by the EU, same as its owner, Belorussian businessman Yury Chyzh.
The company used to buy cement from Akmenės Cementas.
“We discussed that today... It’s difficult to say what will be now,” Akmenės Cementas CEO, Artūras Zaremba, told the daily.
EU foreign ministers decided to impose sanctions against 29 Belorussian companies and 12 individuals linked to Alexander Lukashenko’s regime.
“I do not know how those sanctions would work. Does it mean that we will not be able to maintain any business relations with them? We will need to clear that out,” Zaremba told the daily.
Akmenės Cementas exported some 70,000 tons of cement to Belarus last year.
Fuel traders are also forced to look for new sellers. Some smaller gas chains used to buy Belarus’ diesel fuel from Triple.
