Lithuanian companies aim their brands at Russia's market

Lithuanian companies, which have for some time been supported by orders from owners of foreign brands, believe that, in view of growing production costs, the only way for them to stay competitive is to develop their own brands, the Verslo Žinios business daily reports.

According to preliminary estimations by the Lithuanian Apparel and Textile Industry Association, original brands currently account for approximately one-fifth of Lithuanian textile companies’ turnover.

Although most of their orders come from European markets, Lithuanian textile companies see the potential for the exports of their own brands to the east.

“We have not yet lost those cultural nuances in Russia. And the consumers there understand us. Moreover, we also know how to work in EU markets. Using that experience gained in Eastern and Western markets, companies try to get a foothold into [in the Eastern markets] with their own brands and the results achieved thus far are quite successful,” the association’s director Linas Lasiauskas told the daily.
