Lithuanian Gas does not rule out that unbundling might be implemented later than planned

Lietuvos Dujos (Lithuanian Gas), the Lithuanian gas imports and transportation company controlled by German and Russian groups, does not rule out that its reorganization might be implemented after the set deadline of October 2014 if the company faces any obstacles, such as legal disputes, negotiations with the European Commission, or protracted public tenders.

A summary plan on the unbundling of transmission and distribution operations, which Lietuvos Dujos submitted to the National Control Commission for Prices and Energy, says that the company will be reorganized in two stages – by the end of July 2013 and by the end of October 2014, provided that all public authorities fulfill their tasks in due time, public procurement procedures go smoothly, and there are no disputes with the state or between key shareholders as well as with minority shareholders, employees or creditors.

“The negotiations between the key shareholders of the company and the European Commission on the final schedule of ownership unbundling may affect ... the terms of actions,” the summary says.

Moreover, reorganization would give rise to additional costs, the document says.

The commission’s spokeswoman, Loreta Kimutytė, told BNS that the panel published only a part of reorganization plan on its website, as agreed with Lietuvos Dujos.
