Lietuvos Dujos said in a statement to the NASDAQ OMX Vilnius stock exchange on Thursday that it will acquire 66 percent of shares in the new company at the incorporation. The joint venture will have an authorized capital of 2 million litas.
The joint venture will carry out the activities of a natural gas exchange in Lithuania and, at a later stage, in the entire Baltic region. Lietuvos Dujos and Gasum earlier planned to launch the natural gas exchange in 2012.
Lietuvos Dujos is yet to obtain a license from the National Control Commission for Prices and Energy for the creation of a gas exchange in the country.
Baltpool, a company owned by the electricity transmission system operator Litgrid, launched a natural gas exchange in Lithuania in early March, but no trading is taking place on it yet.
Lietuvos Dujos is quoted on the blue-chip Main List of the Vilnius stock exchange.
