"Norfa is considering expanding into the online retail market," it quoted Darius Ryliškis, spokesman for Norfos Mažmena, the chain's operator. He added that the company was now deciding what online shopping platform to use.

Maxima is currently the only major grocery chain in Lithuania that runs an online shop. Other retailers have not unveiled any specific plans regarding e-commerce.

E-maxima.lt has a turnover of a small Maxima store. Verslo Žinios estimates that it amounts to around 22 million litas (EUR 6.4m). The online service is now only available to customers in Vilnius, but Maxima LT is considering offering it in other cities and towns as well.
