Food accounted for 26.4 percent of final consumption expenditure of Lithuania’s households in 2008. The respective shares above 20 percent of final consumption expenditures were also registered in two more European countries, the European Union’s statistics agency said in a report on final consumption expenditure of households in 2010. Lithuania’s data used in the survey refer to the year 2008.
Meanwhile, housing accounted for 14.8 percent of final consumption expenditure of Lithuania’s households. The respective shares below 20 percent were registered in three more European countries.
Transport accounted for 16 percent of final consumption expenditure of Lithuania’s households, Eurostat said. Clothing and footwear accounted for 7.7 percent, recreation and culture – for 5.9 percent, restaurants and hotels – for 2.8 percent, furnishings – for 4.9 percent.
