“Our group built several environment-friendly ships together with partners in Norway and the number of such orders is set to increase. It’s an impetus for shipbuilders and ship repairers to increase turnover, preserve workforce, develop technologies. Now we are taking part in a tender on the construction of such ships in Kazakhstan,” Arnoldas Šileika, VLG CEO, told the daily.

He doubted whether Lithuania was financially capable of implementing LeaderShip 2020, an ambitious shipbuilding strategy developed by Europe with the aim to increase the competitiveness of European maritime technology. LeaderShip 2020 encourages the countries to reorganize maritime industries and provide financial support for new technologies thus contributing to the reduction of pollution from ships.

BLRT Grupp owns 96.82 percent of shares in VLG.
