Russia’s hostel chain Mir plans to step into Lithuania

Russia’s hostel chain Mir plans to open a hostel in Vilnius, the Verslo Žinios business daily reports.

The chain intends to invest up to 0.5 million euros in its accommodation establishment in the Lithuanian capital.

“We are only interested in Vilnius. Here we will open a 30-40-bed hostel. There are several hostels in Lithuania but competition is not as strong as in St. Petersburg,” Jevgeny Chitkov, the chain’s co-owner, told the daily.

He noted that Lithuanian hostel owners had ruined the image of hostel accommodation by over-economizing on fit-out and making no effort to learn foreign languages in order to understand guests from abroad.
