Mažeikiai hotels, restaurants, stores and private individuals ready to rent apartments to temporary workers expect they could get a solid income.
Local businesses bank on the experience of previous turnarounds, which were profitable both for the companies involved in contractual work at the refinery and for small companies rendering services to the thousands of temporary workers.
“The main turnaround of the refinery means orders for Mažeikiai building and assembly companies. At the same time, it is a solid, although momentous, impetus for the services sector of the town since it opens up possibilities for the companies providing accommodation, catering, entertainment services,” Darius Seilius, member of Mazeikiai business association’s council, told the daily.
Meanwhile, Audrius Stasiulaitis, head of communication at Orlen Lietuva, told the daily that Orlen Lietuva had already concluded 97 contracts with contractors, including 73 companies from Lithuania, 17 companies from Poland and several companies from other countries.
