"Sponsors of the presidency will provide meals and drinks of culinary heritage. We will serve Lithuanian beer, traditional beverages, confectionery, herb teas, and dairy products," the Foreign Ministry told BNS.
All top-level meetings in the framework of presidency will be held in the country's capital Vilnius, with official dinners and brief tours held at the Royal Palace which is now under reconstruction. Sessions of informal meetings of EU ministers will take place at the National Art Gallery, some events will take place in the exhibition and conference center Litexpo.
"Tours of Vilnius Old Town are planned for the guests, as well as short concerts prior to dinners. We also plan to offer trips to advanced farms or business companies," the ministry said.
Expert-level meetings will take place in other parts of Lithuania, including Kaunas, Druskininkai, Trakai, and Klaipėda. Officials visiting the port city of Klaipėda will be taken on tours in Nida, Klaipėda, and Palanga.
"The Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER), i.e., ambassadors of all EU member-states in Brussels, is coming to Klaipėda on July 12-14. Tours of Nida, Klaipėda, and Palanga are planned," Simonas Gentvilas, adviser to Klaipėda mayor, told BNS.
The presidency should include about 70 meetings of social partners organized by representatives of non-governmental and public organizations, science, business, and culture fields. They should take place in Vilnius and other cities and towns of Lithuania – Kaunas, Klaipėda, Marijampolė, Alytus, Trakai, and Anupriškės.
Lithuania will take over six-month EU presidency on July 1.
