Jonas Milius, the head of the service, told BNS on Tuesday that they would seek the Public Procurement Office's permission to continue procurement from a single supplier.
"We will apply to the Public Procurement Office for permission to continue procurement. We will ask the company to work on credit," he said.
BNS calculated that some 580,000 litas (EUR 168,000) out of the 750,000 litas provided by the government has already been spent on disinfection equipment and disinfectants. It is estimated that disinfection of vehicles and footwear of people coming from Belarus costs around 17,000 litas daily.
The State Food and Veterinary Service purchased disinfection equipment and disinfectants from Dezinfekcijos Paslaugos (Disinfection Services) on July 3, after receiving the green light from the Public Procurement Office for the purchase from a single supplier.
