Faina Kukliansky, the leader of the Lithuanian Jewish Community, said the list of potential applicants for compensations now included about 1,100 individuals.
"In order to find everyone, we placed ads in newspapers across the globe. The end of September is the deadline," Kukliansky told BNS.
The earlier application deadline was set for mid-2013.
Lithuania's government has provided the fund with 3 million litas (EUR 869,600) that should be paid out to the Jews who survived the Holocaust and the Soviet atrocities. In Kukliansky's words, the money should reach the survivors by the end of this year.
Under the law adopted in 2011 on compensations for the Jewish communal property nationalized during the Soviet era, Jewish survivors will receive 128 million litas in compensations over the next decade.
About 90 percent of Lithuania's pre-war Jewish population of about 208,000 was annihilated during the Nazi rule in 1941-1944.
