Giedrius Misutis of the State Border Guard Service, which runs the centre, told BNS that a call was received at 11:30 AM asking for medical assistance. It was soon discovered that a crime had been committed.

Misutis said the police have launched a pre-trial investigation.

It’s the second murder at the centre this year. A female Kazakhstani citizen murdered a female Russian citizen in early August.

Currently 150 people live at the centre, including 79 asylum-seekers, mainly Georgian nationals.
