Tomas Janeliūnas. Relations with Belarus – the real mistake (a response to M. Laurinavičius)

In Lithuania, there have long not been such public discussions on foreign policy as were incited by President Gitanas Nausėda and Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius’ proposals in recent weeks to renew dialogue with Belarus. The Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats’ (TS-LKD) categorical reaction to L. Linkevičius’ meeting with the Belarussian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei, describing the meeting as basically a betrayal of Lithuania’s interests, has sparked significant debate. It is not that often that the foreign minister is called to Seimas to explain himself over betrayal of national interests.
