A new Seimas session begins without reforms, but intent on changing the Constitution, implementing partnership

On Wednesday, the Seimas will be gathering for a “live” sitting and will begin its spring session. There are plans to legalise gender-neutral partnership, amend the ethnic minority and alcohol control laws, as well as change the Constitution during it. Six legislative initiatives will be arriving from the Presidential Palace. Members of parliament are sceptical of at least one of them. It is likely that the partnership law will spark fierce debates in Seimas, there are also disagreements on whether remote sittings should continue. Some are musing that perhaps members of Seimas should be immediately vaccinated for COVID-19.
