Andrius Kubilius considers running for re-election as leader of Lithuania's conservative party

Chairman of the Homeland Union–Lithuanian Christian Democrats (conservatives) and current opposition leader Andrius Kubilius does not rule out seeking re-election as the party leader during the elections this year.

"I do not fear this indeed. I see the tasks that need to be translated into reality in this situation. The party has a key task of consolidating itself and the society – there may be various challenges with the current administration, and, based on the conclusions on what we haven't done and the mistakes we made, we must prepare for the upcoming elections," Kubilius said in an interview to Žinių Radijas news radio on Wednesday morning.

The conservatives are due to elect a new leader later this year.

Kubilius has been heading the party since 2003.
