Astravyets launches before Baltic States dot the i’s on trade

Astravyets Nuclear Power Plant began generating electricity on Tuesday. Immediately upon noting this, Lithuania set zero transfer rates for commercial electrical power flows from Belarus – in other words, a boycott of Belarussian electricity has begun. Nevertheless, the Baltic States have yet to come to terms on how to trade electricity with third countries after these events because such trade has thus far been going through the Lithuania-Belarus segment.
