Former finance minister Ingrida Šimonytė appointed to Lithuanian central bank's board

Lithuania’s President Dalia Grybauskaitė signed a decree appointing Ingrida Šimonytė, former finance minister, to the board of the central Bank of Lithuania, the President’s Office confirmed to BNS on Friday.

Šimonytė’s candidacy has been put forward by the central bank’s governor, Vitas Vasiliauskas, according to the Bank of Lithuania.

Šimonytė served as finance minister between 2009 and 2012. Since January, she has been teaching macroeconomics at Vilnius University.
