"With all due respect for the Cabinet, I believe that they are running from responsibility," Adamkus told program Lietuva Tiesiogiai on Lietuvos Rytas TV on Wednesday, commenting on the ruling coalition's position following the guilty verdict in the Labor Party's fraudulent bookkeeping case.
According to the former president, the government "has to express a certain moral position" and "everyone equally" should take on responsibility in the coalition.
But a shake-up in the government or the coalition's collapse would not be beneficial, Adamkus says.
"I think that at this time any changes in the government or the collapse of the coalition would not be beneficial for the state. If we have survived until now, so we will survive until the end of this government with our teeth clenched," Adamkus said.
