Lithuania's ruling parties propose revoking decision to cancel electoral panels' powers

Lithuania's new ruling majority in the Seimas suggests revoking the outgoing parliament's decision to cancel powers of the country's Central Electoral Commission led by Zenonas Vaigauskas.

A draft resolution on the issue has been registered by elder of the Social Democratic Party group in parliament, Irena Šiaulienė, elder of the Order and Justice Party's political group Petras Gražulis and the Seimas' first deputy speaker Vytautas Gapšys of the Labour Party.

Taking into account the Constitution Court's conclusion, the Seimas decided in November to cancels the electoral panel's power as of 13 December due to electoral violations during the recent general elections.
