Lithuanian and Polish leaders agree to personally look after joint energy projects

Presidents of Lithuania and Poland Dalia Grybauskaitė and Bronislaw Komorowski agreed in Vilnius on Thursday to personally take care of joint energy projects.

"Last year, we with the president of Poland agreed to focus on bilateral cooperation. Today we have decided to contribute personally, on the highest level, to implementation of gas and power interconnection projects," the Lithuanian president said.

She also offered Poland to join the Lithuanian-based Energy Security Center which seeks to contribute to ensuring energy security and smart defense for all NATO Allies.

Lithuania and Poland have agreed to coordinate the positions of the two countries in security policy and missile defense matters with a view to the forthcoming NATO Summit in Chicago this spring.

The Polish president was in Vilnius on Thursday to participate in 16 February commemoration events at Grybauskaitė's invitation. She thanked Komorowski for the congratulatory message for the people of Lithuania.
