Lithuanian Social Democrats top popularity ratings

If general elections were held in Lithuania the coming Sunday, 25.1 percent of people surveyed would vote for the ruling Social Democratic Party. Compared to July, the party's popularity has increased by 0.7 percentage point, according to the news website delfi.lt.

A survey by Spinter Tyrimai for delfi.lt shows that 9 percent of respondents would vote for the ruling Labor Party, followed by the opposition Homeland Union–Lithuanian Christian Democrats (8.4 percent), the ruling Order and Justice party (7.8 percent) and the opposition Liberal Movement (6.7 percent).

The remaining parties would fail to pass the 5-percent election hurdle to get to the Seimas.

3.9 percent said the valued the incumbent center-left government positively. 35.3 percent said they valued it rather positively. 29.8 percent said they valued the Cabinet's activities rather negatively and 19.7 percent valued it negatively. 11.3 percent did not answer this question.

The survey of 1,013 people was carried out on August 22-29.
