The politician said on Monday that she was unexpectedly nominated for a high post at the European Parliament, noting it would not be possible to run two adequate election campaigns.

Andrikienė has been nominated for vice-chairman of the EP Group of the European People's Party.

In the elections for the Conservative Party leadership planned for April 22-23, the candidates include the party's incumbent leader Andrius Kubilius, MEP Vytautas Landsbergis, and MP Valentinas Stundys.
