According to a press release circulated by the President's Office, Grybauskaitė stressed that the Concession Agreement, to be signed and ratified in the near future, would allow undertaking practical tasks.

"The nuclear power plant project would serve to promote Lithuanian-Japanese cooperation in other spheres, as well, so it is necessary to make the most of this opportunity," Grybauskaitė said.

“Lithuania is very interested in cooperating with Japan in high and green technology sectors. The bilateral dialogue in various spheres would be further facilitated by signing an agreement on avoidance of double taxation,” she said.

Kazuko Shiraishi, 61, has formerly served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and in Japanese Embassies in Poland and the United States.
