On Tuesday, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė heard President Gitanas Nausėda’s evaluation of the cabinet she is forming. According to the president’s spokesman Antanas Bubnelis, it was agreed that alternative nominees would be sought for some of the minister positions. While this was later denied by I. Šimonytė herself, political scientist Saulius Spurga guesses that not all the proposed candidates will pass the Presidential Palace’s filter. Furthermore, he notes that the ongoing selection process is highlighting G. Nausėda’s stance – he seemingly appears distracted, acting on criteria not known to the public.
