Lithuanian foreign minister seeks support in UN Security Council elections

Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius has arrived in New York to attend a session of the United Nations General Assembly and is trying to secure foreign counterparts' backing for Lithuania's bid to gain a non-permanent membership of the Security Council.

This and other issues have been discussed with the foreign ministers of the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire, the Republic of Senegal, the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Canada, according to the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A vote on new members of the UN Security Council will take place in October.
