Authored by Vilnius sculptor Mindaugas Juncys, the 6-ton 3-meter granite and bronze monument was donated to the church by a Šiauliai family, Lietuvos Rytas daily reports.

The monument picturing Pope John Paul II was built next to the church where the pope visited and prayed during his visit to Lithuania in September 1993.
