Mysterious importer of Russian and Belarussian electricity presents new riddles

The Latvian company Spectrum Baltic, which obtained the right to import electricity from Kaliningrad and Belarus to Lithuania has raised rumours and caused surprise among energy experts. When it turned out that Latvia intends to trade in power produced at Astravyets Nuclear Power Plant, in Lithuania, a license for electricity imports was granted to a thus far unknown company with one employee. Inter Rao, which has an import monopoly, was surprised by the newcomer’s audacity, while others muse that cunning electricity traders may be hiding behind the Latvian company.
