Mogadishu, the Capital of Somalia is considered one of the most dangerous places on earth. Its 2 million inhabitants have endured over two decades of conflict and today a battle wages between the armed Islamist group al-Shabaab and the African Union forces supporting the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia. Amidst the chaos of this war torn city, Mohamoud Nur, the Mayor of Mogadishu, is trying to make a difference by "altering the mindset of the people". He left his wife and six children behind in London, where he lived for over twelve years, to return home to Mogadishu at the request of President Sheikh Sharif. Across this compelling half-hour film we explore Mahamoud’s incredible story, leading up to his most ambitious initiative to date: a street festival celebrating Somali culture, the first event of its kind for many years and an obvious target for a terrorist attack.

We are on Cuban soil, on the island of Cayo Largo: And it is between the roots of the mangroves that we meet the most curious inhabitant of this area, it is the Hutia, a small rodent native to the island of Cuba. Our search for knowledge about the marine turtles is rewarded when we visit the Eco-Reserve where researchers and volunteers, have only one objective: To recover the turtles eggs from their nests and make them safe from predators. In order to learn more about the marine turtles we dive into their natural habitat, into the protected waters of the Cayo Largo Marine Park, a virgin and uncontaminated eco-system populated by millions of multicoloured species. Another miracle on Cayo Largo are the iguanas that live all over the island, they are also heavily protected.

Five hours sailing time from the port of Jucaro, south of Cuba, we go to discover and explore an enchanted kingdom: to the uninhabited archipelago of Los Jardines de la Reina (The Queen’s Gardens), a nature park and also a marine reserve situated between the Golfo de Ana Maria and the Caribbean Sea. Our base is the only floating hotel in the archipelago, but firmly anchored in one the channels in this labyrinth of small islands of los Jardines de la Reina, where the sea seems to be just a calm lake. We are accompanied by an expert biologist and together we discover this untouched mangrove eco-system, with herons, pelicans, cormorants and frigates flying overhead and inhabited by many forms of marine life. In the waters of this realm we see the biggest grouper in the world and swim with an enormous group of silk sharks, which are very famous in Los Jardines de la Reina.

While many debate that the birthplace of noodles is in China, few can argue that when it comes to handmade noodles, the Chinese are the clear masters at it. With more than 200 varieties, a piece of dough can be pulled, stretched, shaved, cut, pinched, rolled, chopped, grated, flicked, or even danced into a bowl of noodles, creating a feast for the eyes as well as the belly. One of the most popular forms of handmade noodles is Knife-Shaved Noodles, where noodle strips are shaved off a large chunk of dough directly into boiling water with a specialized shaving knife. An experienced chef can work very quickly, shaving off noodles 6 inches long, 200 a minute. Sandro Falbo is the executive chef at an exlusive Italian restaurant in Hong Kong.
