Lithuanian opposition leader: That was president's best address ever

Lithuanian Seimas opposition leader and leader of the Homeland Union–Lithuanian Christian Democrats, Andrius Kubilius, says that President Dalia Grybauskaitė's State of the Nation Address, delivered on Tuesday, is probably her best yet.

"To my mind, it was a very strong address. If I could be an evaluator, it was probably the president's best State of the Nation Address. I think it would be a good idea to create a new tradition and hold a special discussion after such an address before the Seimas," Kubilius told journalists.

"The president managed to name really key achievements, and challenges, and tasks we need to do in a very precise and in some cases even very subtle way. Until now, one has rarely managed to name geopolitical challenges also related to energy issues," Kubilius said.

He also said he heard "very clear criticism of the government, expressed in a subtle way, repeated several times, and a call on the government to move from preparation for work to actual work."

"We have said that numerous times that we have not seen work so far, we have seen only multiple working groups and the results of their work are put into a deep drawer. We have seen indecisiveness on key issues. The president put special focus on that. I mean energy issues," the opposition leader said.
