During the party's council meeting in Kėdainiai on Monday evening, the Labor Party's leader Vytautas Gapšys announced the launch of merger consultations.
In his words, the two sides are currently harmonize their negotiating positions. The Labor Party's council on Monday approved the conditions of the restructuring to speed up the process.
"We want to finish the process very soon (...). If the negotiations go well, we should finish within a few months," Gapšys told BNS.
The Christian Party was established on January 23, 2010, after the merger of the Christian Conservative Social Union and the Lithuanian Christian Democratic Party. According to the party's statute, it is a political center-right party operating under the provisions of modern conservatism. It is headed by Vagnorius, former conservative prime minister. The party has no seats in Lithuania's parliament.
